Madam Kwan’s @ Pavilion, KL
This “Café – Cuisine – Nasi Lemak” serves local Malaysian cuisine and western favorites, the famous nasi lemak is a must try and the restaurant is always packed with patrons during lunch time.
I’ve been craving for Madam Kwan’s nasi lemak for so long! This time in KL, I don’t wanna miss the chance. So, we decided to have our brunch at Pavilion outlet before going back to Penang.
Madam Kwan’s Specialties

The Ambience

We were served with iced water while taking order. We didn’t have to wait for long, the food served pretty fast. Not less than 5mins… … or, 10mins? I forgot… … indeed, FAST!
Brewed Coffee

Mr Bear’s order. Nothing special. (RM8.30) I would rather go for other drinks, or… … simply wash down my meal with the free iced water. Ha!!
Old time, I usually shared the iced lemon tea with friends and the generous honey would be served separately in a little jug (as in the picture came with the brewed coffee). We liked to add the iced water with bits of honey to sweeten the taste ^^
Nasi Lemak

Coconut steamed rice, served with chicken curry, sambal ikan bilis (anchovies in chili and shrimp paste), dried shrimp floss, hardboiled egg, acar (mixed vegetable pickle), and cucumber slices. (RM14.20)
My all time favorite. Thumb up!! The rice is fluffy and aromatic, it goes well with the creamy and thick chicken curry and also the spicy yet scrumptious dried shrimp floss and acar. You can ask for more gravy like I did, and they are very kind enough to give you a small bowl of gravy without any charges.
Nasi Bojari

Tri-coloured rice with assam prawns (tamarind prawns), beef/chicken rendang (beef/chicken stewed in coconut milk and spices) and deep fried chicken drumstick. (RM20.50)
Mr Bear had this, first time trying after reading some good reviews by other bloggers. The colored rice and the chicken drumstick tasted good, Mr Bear commented. And not to forget, the perfectly cooked beef rendang, Mr Bear’s favorite. I got to try some but I still love my favorite nasi lemak.
The Bill

Talk about nasi lemak, some may think it is pricy but you can’t get that large serving with few side dishes and generous gravy served in a clean and comfortable restaurant like in Madam Kwan’s.
However, one thing to add on, a few years back, we tried out the other dishes like curry laksa (noodle with coconut based curry soup) and assam sotong (tamarind squids), that was a letdown, the taste was flat. Since then, we only order nasi lemak, and now nasi bojari would be our choice too. Maybe the curry fish head and dessert is also worth for a try that I don’t know… … Well, will sample that and share with all when I go to KL again. Stay tuned.

saw this restaurant when i was in KL few months back but i never try. RM14.20 for a plate of nasi lemak. expensive huh. u can eat 14 packets of RM1 nasi lemak until u vomit! LOL.
Should try this, at least once. Yes, you can buy many many packets, but is different. The taste is different. In fact, I like both. haha!!!
