Keng Swee Cafe @ Pasar Baru Bukit Bintang, KL

coffee + toasts + half boiled eggs = simple pleasures of a day

Pasar Baru Bukit Bintang, or commonly known as Imbi Market was introduced by our close friend. This wet market is popular for its hawker stalls and one must not miss is the authentic Hainan coffee and roti bakar/烧面包 (toasted bread in Malay and Cantonese).

Keng Swee Cafe

In the morning, this coffee shop is usually packed with the breakfast crowd. Surprisingly the toasts here are  awesome by only using small oven to toast, unlike those popular coffee shops to toast the bread over the traditional charcoal fire.

Hainan Coffee – Smooth, Rich and Aromatic

Our fav order to wash down the hearty breakfast with a glass of famous Hainan coffee. (RM1.60)

Joo Min Bao – The Must Have

We call this as “Joo Min Bao”. Min Bao means bread, in Cantonese – Joo 面包. Toasted with salty butter and sugar to a golden brown and crisp on the edge. We totally enjoyed every single BITE,  a toast to die for!! (RM1.10/piece)

Toasted Bun – Crunchy on the Outside, Soft on the Inside

Slathered with kaya (coconut egg custard), and a slab of cold butter sandwiched in between. (RM1.50)

Steamed Bread – Soft but Not Soggy

Served with kaya (coconut egg custard) and a slab of cold butter separately for DIY. (RM1.60/2 pieces)

Half Boiled Eggs

To have it at the right texture, we need to wait for exactly 4 mins so the eggs are not completely boiled. Enjoy it with dash of soy sauce and pepper. (RM0.70/egg)
