BackWerk, the self service bakery retail chain was first opened in Feb 2001 and it has now with over 200 stores in Germany and Austria. The bakery selection including fresh breads, pastries, snacks and drinks with cheaper price than the average craft bakers without compromising on taste.

“Our breads are made exclusively of natural sourdough, flour, water, yeast, salt and other natural ingredients baked. Always!”

I particularly prefer the Apple Puff Pastry over the other two. The pastry was flaky, crisp, and tasted good with just the right touch of sweetness. Yummy!!

Self Service

At first, we never knew this is a self service bakery. Quite funny, we paid at the cashier counter and was waiting for her to pack for us…later we notised that the packing corner is right at the entrance : p
